PUB to Word converter
Need to keep editing a newsletter or flyer that lives in a .pub file? Convert it to Word. You get the exact PDF as well, and a preview of both before paying $4 for a single file or $12 for up to 200.
What to expect from the Word version
Publisher documents are free-form layouts; Word documents are flowing text. The converter renders your page exactly (that is the PDF), then rebuilds a Word document from it: paragraphs stay editable, pictures are placed as images, tables are recognised where possible. Positions can shift by a few millimetres and decorative shapes may turn into images. For a 4-page newsletter that you want to keep publishing, it is usually a ten-minute tidy-up instead of a rebuild from scratch.
What converts well, and what doesn't
| Content | Word (.docx) | |
|---|---|---|
| Text boxes, headings, columns | Exact | Good, positions may shift |
| Pictures, logos, clip art | Exact | Kept as images |
| Tables | Exact | Usually recognised as tables |
| Shapes, borders, backgrounds | Exact | Converted to images or dropped |
| WordArt and text effects | Often missing | Missing |
| Master pages, page numbers | Mostly kept | Partly |

FAQ
Why does Word conversion cost money when PDF is free?
Building a Word document means rendering the page, then rebuilding editable text, images and tables from it, which takes real server time. The preview is free so you only pay when the result is useful.
Can I edit the Word file in Google Docs or LibreOffice?
Yes. It is a standard .docx file.
Will my fonts be kept?
Font names are kept where possible. If a font is not installed on your PC, Word substitutes it, like with any document.
Why is the Word version different from the PDF?
The PDF is an exact render of the page. Word has no concept of free-floating Publisher layouts, so the Word file is rebuilt from the PDF: text stays editable, images are kept, but positions can shift and decorative shapes may be dropped. That is why you see a Word preview before paying.
What about WordArt?
WordArt and some text effects are not supported by the conversion engine and may be missing. Check the preview; if something important is gone, do not pay, and use one of the free offline methods or email us.
